Rare 1908 Pattern Cavalry Sword with 1916 Irish Rebellion Provenance

This is an uncommonly good homogeneous example of this iconic cavalry sword. Manufactured at Enfield in January of 1915 it is in excellent condition and retains its original field service khaki paint finish. What makes it exceptionally interesting are the unit marks present on the guard. This sword was issued to a trooper of the 6th Reserve Cavalry Regiment (Ex-3rd Reserve Cavalry Brigade). Stationed at Marlborough Barracks, Phoenix Park, Dublin, and comprising 35 officers and 851 Other Ranks (5th/12th Lancers, City of London/1st County of London Yeomanry), it was one of the first units called upon to resist the Easter Uprising of 1916.
